South-Estonia Tourism Cluster prepares tourism strategy
The South-Estonia Tourism Cluster, covering the counties of Põlva, Võru, Valga, Tartu and Jõgeva, and the city of Tartu separately, has embarked on a new and important step in the development of tourism in the region. The aim is to develop a comprehensive tourism strategy for 2025-2030 covering all relevant target groups and sectors to develop tourism throughout the region and increase its competitiveness at national and international level.
The strategy will be developed in close cooperation with the partners of the South-Estonian Tourism Cluster and various target groups. Broad cooperation ensures that the voice of all relevant stakeholders is heard and taken into account.
The new tourism strategy is a cross-county and cross-sectoral document that formulates prospective directions and activities for the development of tourism in South Estonia in the years 2025-2030. The strategy will focus on taking into account regional specificities and on each region and tourism product individually. Its aim is to create a practical working document that includes an analysis of key target markets, trends and a concrete action plan.
“South Estonia is rich in natural beauty, cultural heritage and diverse tourism opportunities,” said Kanni Kallastu, head of the South Estonia Tourism Cluster. “With the renewed strategy, we want to further highlight these unique qualities and make our region more attractive to both local and foreign visitors.” Emphasising regional specificities and highlighting the uniqueness of each region is an important part of the strategy process.
The tourism strategy provides an opportunity to better develop and promote tourism in South Estonia in a way that benefits both local residents and businesses. The final strategy document will be ready in 2024. by the end of the year.
