The charms of teleworking in South-East Estonia visited 2023. aastal avastamas üle 10 000 inimese

Companies that joined the Kupland network in South-East Estonia were visited in 2023. at least 10 000 in 2007, which clearly shows the growing popularity of teleworking tourism. The majority of visitors, nearly 90%, were from corporate teams, while the remaining 10% were private customers.

Taking into account that by 2022. At least 7 670 people worked remotely in the region in 2010, and by 2021. 3352 people in 2010 and 3352 in 2020. 1400 people in 2007, more than 22 400 telework tourists have visited the Southeast-Estonian telework quality brand since Kupland started.

Lisanna Elm, Project Manager of Kupland, said that Southeast Estonia has put itself firmly on the map as a teleworking region for local and international companies operating in Estonia. “Teams come here to inspire their team, either as part of a training event or for winter, spring, summer and autumn seminars. The details are still important at Kupland – the fact that an individual can be separated from the team for a short period of time if they have a scheduled video meeting or other special request, then a solution will be found,” said Elm. “If consumer behaviour is any indication of trends, it is the genuine contact with others or with oneself that people enjoy most. More and more clients are attracted by the possibility to combine teleworking with various seasonal activities, hobbies, self-development and therapy.”

Daytime cafés or coworking spaces were the most preferred option for teleworkers in the last year. Those coming from further afield chose a place to stay where they could stay overnight and stayed for at least two days and up to two weeks. In many cases, the worker had a dog with him, as well as a laptop. There were situations where self-employed people came on holiday and, having seen such a comfortable working environment in a place like Kupland, decided to work. The opposite also happened – those who came to South-East Estonia deliberately to work but realised they needed more of a holiday. According to Lisanna Elm, Kupland is all about getting visitors to think differently, and Kupland’s remote workplaces are delighted to see this increasingly put into practice.

Foreign visitors came to the remote workplaces from countries such as the United States, Spain, the Netherlands, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Lithuania, South Africa, South Korea, Latvia, Norway, Paraguay, Portugal, Sweden, Germany, Finland, the United Kingdom, Turkey, Hungary, Vietnam and Spain.

This year, many new customers will have the opportunity to discover the top teleworking class in South-East Estonia. “First of all, the fact that Estonia has reached the 7th position in the TOP of remote work in The Global Remote Work Index* will allow more Kupland to be noticed,” Elm was pleased. “Kupland is also a great find for people coming to South Estonia as part of the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024, who want to enjoy a high-level remote working environment, hospitality and local culture. So – telecommute, relax and enjoy a year of cultural richness!” added Elm.
The South-East Estonian teleworking network Kupland has 2024. 27 members at the beginning of the year, offering a wide range of teleworking options and additional services for teams, families and individual teleworkers. In addition to the working conditions and the various additional opportunities, Kupland is known for its enchanting nature, delicious food and authentic experiences.

The broader aim of Kupland is to raise awareness of teleworking opportunities, the activities of the network members and the teleworking sector, thus contributing to the promotion of the entrepreneurial landscape of the whole South-East Estonian region.
