The 31. mail Poola kuninga loss
The castle of the King of Poland is opened in Rupsi, on the shores of Lake Peipsi. Along with the castle, hive boxes, wind chimes, a balance track, and seating areas will be on display. The veil of secrecy will be ceremoniously lifted from Juhan Liv’s mindscape, the new outdoor exhibition of the Liv Museum. So continues Poet 160. birthday celebrations near Lake Peipsi.
It is common knowledge that Juhan Liiv, in his sick years, also considered himself king of Poland and wanted to emigrate to Poland to rule his people. The mental illness, exacerbated by the city, human contact and a hurried environment, slowed down as he returned to the countryside. Juhan Liiv felt at home in the natural environment, nature was Juhan’s inspiration.
The Juhan Liivi Museum’s new outdoor exhibition “Juhan Liivi’s Landscapes of the Senses” enhances the visitor’s experience of nature, showcases Liivi’s work and offers positive emotions. It juxtaposes Livy’s work with the natural environment, depicting the poet’s mind as a physical landscape, a landscape of the senses. Visitors will have the chance to peer into Juhan Liv’s mind – what made him happy, what made him angry or mad. Or why he wanted to be king of Poland.
The whole exhibition engages our five senses and brings visitors into a peaceful state in harmony with nature. All you have to do is show up, be there and take your time.
The textual part of the exhibition will be presented in Estonian and English, and the exhibition has been created with both children and adults in mind. The concept and design of the exhibition was created by Velvet design studio together with the Livonian Museum.
Both the museum as a whole and the new exhibition will be open every day from 10-18 during the summer. Free admission with museum card.
The design and construction of the exhibition was supported by the LEADER programme and the Peipsiääre municipality.
