Tartu thanks conference organisers

Tuesday, 6. On 17 February, the Tartu Conference Ambassador Programme held an appreciation event at the Alexela Loomela, where the 2023. the outstanding conference organisers of the year and presented certificates to the new conference delegates from Tartu.
According to Urmas Klaas, Mayor of Tartu, conference organisers and delegates introduce Tartu to more and more new visitors and their work is very important for the city. “I am very pleased to see that Tartu continues to be a successful conference destination, attracting prestigious international events, influential entrepreneurs and creators. This year, Tartu is the European Capital of Culture and will host more than 1,000 events of all kinds, which means an exciting and rich year on the cultural and conference scene,” said Klaas.

According to Kadri Karu, CEO of the Estonian Conferences Bureau, Tartu stands out as a venue for scientific and specialised conferences, which helps to introduce Tartu as a centre of excellence in many disciplines and strengthen international cooperation opportunities for local researchers and specialists. “We hope that the example and initiative of Tartu’s good conference ambassadors will be an inspiration to many other organisers,” said Karu.

Tartu hosted 52 international conferences last year. The University of Tartu brought the most international conferences to the city, while the sTARTUp Day business festival attracted the most participants. In addition, three new Tartu conference delegates were appointed: one from the University of Tartu, one from the Estonian University of Life Sciences and one from the Education and Youth Board. Tartu Conference Ambassador brings conferences in his field to Tartu, contributing to the development of Tartu as a centre for international conferences. Today, there are 137 recognised conference speakers in Tartu.

The Tartu Conference Ambassadors’ Thanksgiving event took place for the 11th time this year. times. Thanksgiving has become a nice tradition to look back at the year behind us from a conference perspective and to recognise and thank the organisers of outstanding events in different fields.
